Simon Spicer – Director of Simon & Co Estate Agents

I graduated from university in Business Management, and immediately started working in marketing in the manufacturing and IT business sectors, before starting my career as an estate agent. I first worked for a local independent agent, and then for the largest estate agency chain in the UK where I have successfully managed several offices covering most of the Bournemouth area.

This experience has given me a real insight into what actually makes a good estate agent, what marketing channels actually work to sell property, and how you can use those channels to your best advantage.

Simon & Co was started as result of combining all of this experience and knowledge, to create a full estate agency service focused on getting results whilst still offering competitive fees.

When I first started in estate agency, I remember we had a tremendous amount of footfall because in order to get properties sent to you, you had to physically register with all the estate agents individually.

Back then the local property newspaper used to get published every Wednesday, and the next day we used to get floods of calls from people responding from the property week adverts.

10 Years later, the way that people look for property has transformed, the Internet is now the main way that people find property. Almost all buyers register with an estate agent because they have seen a property that they like with that agent.

What is important to remember however is that service aspect of what an estate agent provides is just as paramount today, as it was 50 years ago. Local knowledge, valuations, carrying out viewings, offer qualification, sales progression are all skills that are all vital in ensuring a smooth transaction process.

So what Simon & Co does is to combine focused marketing that works in today’s market with the services of a traditional estate agent. This strategy enables us to offer an effective marketing solution for your property at a fee that provides value for money.
